Happy Sunny Day

It's unusually sunny and bright today, and after lunch, the kids were desperate to play outside, and it's been a series of back door slams as they rush in and out to announce every new discovery.

"Mommy, mommy!!" They come storming through the back door. "We found a bug! It's dead! You have to come see!"

Indeed it is a bug. It's about as big as the period at the end of this sentence, and if you look really closely, it could be on it's back, little legs up in the air.

"Mommy," says Thomas, "maybe we can make him our pet."

I tell them to maybe search for another bug, and we'll talk more about pets later.

*******

Five minutes later, a sweaty and excited Thomas is back inside.

"Mom, we found a baby worm with two eyes..... really scary eyes."

Hmmmm....

********

A few minutes later, the jokes begin. I'm not sure I've ever heard a preschooler joke, and it seems they are just a little lacking. In a punch line, perhaps.

Slam, went the door, and in barreled Thomas.

"Mom, Mom, Mom!  Bear told me a funny joke. Why do chairs sit on chickens? "

"Why, Thomas?"

"Because they're not real!! Yea, that was a funny joke. Bear told me such a funny joke!"

Out the door. Back again.

"Why do lambs sit on windows, Mom?"

"I don't know. Why, Thomas do lambs sit on windows?"

"Because they're not real!!"

"Wait, Mom, let me tell you one more of bear's jokes."

oh joy

Thomas asks, "Why do memory games sit on curtains?"

"Because they're not real!!" we chorus together.

What the heck!!??
