Good End, Good Beginning

Mondays always feel like the end of the weekend to me, not the start of a new week. Time to recharge the batteries, get the plan for the days ahead in order (both mentally and logistically).

Monday wrapped up a great weekend. My broken toe kept me from a planned hike with friends in preparation for our big Grand Canyon trip this coming fall. But instead of moping around the house and corralling the children, we took to the road, and spent a great weekend in Reedville with Mom and Dad.

While Patrick was scaling great heights in the mountains, we took to the flat waterside land with tricycle rides, blowing bubbles in hopes of making it to 100 (Gabrielle got to 97 before she lost interest), and batting practice (Thomas hit 4 in a row!).

A trip to the end of the street - and thus, the end of the peninsula - in the early morning hours afforded the kids a chance to see the fishermen pulling in their catch, and the chance to "pet" the slimy fish. It also afforded me the chance to sleep in a bit - thanks Mom & Dad - and finish a good book. And Scrabble!

(the pearl we found in a Reedville oyster last year!)

Sunday night pizza and vegging, a long bath, and leafing through two new magazines... ahhhh, heaven.

And Monday, thus far, sets up for a promising week.

Despite the toe, I played a decent match of tennis and actually won for the first time! Patrick has plans to cook a delicious dinner tonight, and I've wrapped up loose ends on various projects on which I had been procrastinating.

Off to a good start!
