The Trip Up

We spent two days at the end of July heading up to northern Vermont. As a first road trip with small fries, we (ummm, I) were a bit nervous at the prospect of two days straight of driving with them. Nervous, mostly, that my nerves would be fried from whining and my back would be in a kink from constantly turning around to provide them with {fill in the blank} snacks, toys, books, the crayon someone threw on the floor.

We had a great idea to take a picture every 100 miles to document the trip, but due to boredom, sleeping kids, and an accidental odometer reset, we only made it to 300.

All in all, it was a pretty easy and uneventful trip. The first day took us up to Albany, where we settled in, found a great restaurant, and explored a bit.

After the obligatory breakfast and coffee at Duncan Donuts, we hit the road, and headed north. In the name of spontaneity, we pulled off to explore Fort Ticonderoga, which was really fascinating.

The ferry across a skinny part of Lake Champlain took us across the Vermont border...

... and we managed to make it to Burlington for a late lunch. What a very cool town!

Next up ... northern Vermont and a fabulous adventure at summer camp!
