"Awwwwww, Mmoooooommmmm"

The above quote seems to be a familiar one in the house these days.

Case in point:

Tonight, I let the kids each pick out a small piece of candy from our candy stash (because no longer is Halloween the only stash-building holiday. We now bring home booty from Valentine's Day and Easter celebrations at school. And my bag of candy is growing and growing.)

Thomas picked out a little pack of Starburst candies, which he has never tried before. He eagerly peels back the peach-colored wrapper, looks at the square of candy, and proclaims with utter disappointment and dismay:

"Aaawwwwwwwww, Mmoooooom. It's just a piece of cheese."

I let the disappointment sink in for a minute, and then got to enjoy the look of relief and happiness as he bit into the sweet (non-cheese) chewiness.
